Morpheus and Nebuchadnezzar Possible Nebuchadnezzar Coin Morpheus (Rev's Hero) Wow, here we are already. To think I’ve only just over Christmas. I gave the students the choice of calling me the Rev or my real name. They asked me what my real name was and I said it was Morpheus that spun them out. Some had seen the Matrix and realised I was only mess’ in with them. So I asked them what they would change their names to and they all completely wimped out except for Ryan who is called Steve (probably after Stevie Wonder) and Mitch who picked Frodo. Victoria chose ‘I don’t know’ Winoma picked something like ‘I don’t know what to pick’ Mitch S was happy to stick with his name as was Jason and Daniel. So I suggested that Nebuchadnezzar would be a good name although it is hard to spell. They thought I was mad but I explained that Nebuchadnezzar was a very famous Babylonian King and Morpheus’ ship was also called the Nebuchadnezzar. |

The soul the Rev's dream car Today students were encouraged to explore their identity. To kick things off we watched an episode of the Simpsons where Bart sells his soul. He loses his sense of humour, he realises that he won’t be going to heaven without his soul and in the end he wants his soul back. Steve demonstrates identity Steve was asked to step up and help me out. I asked him to raise his left hand. He did. Then I asked him to raise his right hand and clap them together. I then asked the class what would happen if we chopped off Steve’s hands (apart from me not being allowed to help out in spirituality class). The question is would Steve stop being Steve. No. So his identity is deeper than his body. |

Good but not quite there Vulnerable in a hostile world Spirituality Photos Students were asked to pick a photo that represented them spiritually. The pic of the plant in the desert represents a student sense of being vulnerable in a hostile environment. The pic of the football players trying to mark the ball represents the student’s frustration of not being quite able to achieve his goals “Close but not close enough.” Another student chose the building on top of the clouds to represent her sense of being on top of the world. The pic of the many different train tracks represented a students feeling of spiritual confusion. The farmer feeding the sheep represents spiritual work. The person sun baking represents a feeling of being spiritually exposed and naked. The people in the train was the pic I chose to represent that I am on a spiritual journey. |
