Speed Pictionary

Drawing values like; honesty and courage is not easy. Here are some drawing of; God, Love and friends. The drawing of God is interesting because it reminds me of Christ on the cross. God dying on a cross is fairly unusual compared to other world religions. Normally gods are invincible and powerful; it’s not the done thing to die for the very people who are killing you.

We don’t often think about what matters most to us. Family and Friends are easily taken for granted. Students really struggle to answer how they came to hold values like love, family, and friends. Mostly they respond by saying that they just have these values, they make them happy. Friends are there for you in tough times.

Hi and Keira is cool

It’s a bit weird but we mixed up the groups today. We haven’t had a class for a few weeks so that’s just how it happened. So hello to; Keira, Aaron, Lucy, Brooke and Jaimee. Oh and I promised to say that Keira is cool.

Losing what we value

One way of exploring how much we value our values is exploring how we would feel if we lost some of these values. Five bits of paper was given to reach student and they were asked to write down something they values; their bike, shoes, mum, dog, sporting ability etc. Life sometimes deals out some pretty hard knocks; you can get sick, accidents can happen. So to simulate this I asked each student to hand in one of their bits of paper.

Round 1

Surf Boards, Motor Bike, Motor Bike, Basketball shoes, Tennis Racquets, money and an iPod

No sweat so far, but round 2 was a bit harder

Round 2

Dog, sporting ability, Food (porridge from now on, Yuk), sport, food, mobile (ouch)

This was a bit more ouchy but wait for the next round of losses

Round 3

Kids, sport friends, friends, job, pets

So we kept two back

God and wife (the Rev), friends and family, singing and family/friends (cheater), family and health, friends and family, family and dog.

For me God has given me everything that I am, all that I enjoy and he uses the bad stuff to make me grow, so God is my number 1. the Rev
