14 Avoid Favouritism Part II E-mail

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 and James 2:1-13

A peer pressure special

We often connect our self worth with the type of friends we have around us. If we are friends with those who are cool, or influential then it makes us feel important, successful and accepted. But God says that the poor of this world are chosen by him to be rich in faith and it is they who will inherit the Kingdom. So why invest so much of our energy into people who don’t really care for us for who we are. Rather than trying to have the best of friends around you God wants you to be the best of friends to those who are poor in your eyes. It might be those who aren’t popular at school, or those who have menial tasks at work. Life is more about being a friend than having friends. the Rev
