Luke 7:36-50 and Romans 2:1-16 Excuse FreePretending can be tiring. Pretending with yourself is even harder. Reality has a nasty way of reminding us that we are not in control, we aren’t as attractive, as popular, as nice, as good as we like to think of ourselves. Sometimes we change the rules so we can feel better about ourselves, we lied so as not to hurt someone, we stole because we were desperate. Other times we knock people down so that we feel on top. What we need is to love and live the gospel because our faith in Christ removes the need to make excuses, of pretending. In Christ we are perfect, in Christ we are whole, we are beautiful to God and so we don’t need to pretend to be better than we are or to knock other people down. the Rev

Prayer: Dear God, thank you that I am saved on the basis of my faith rather than on the basis of me thinking I can excuse myself. Forgive me my pride and help me to love and live the gospel in a every increasing practical way. Help me to love you and love people more than I love myself.
