‘Whatever’ and ‘it’s all good’The there are two current phrases which are commonly used today. The first is ‘whatever’ and it is used instead of saying “I don’t care.” You might express your concern or your advice to someone and in response you get ‘Whatever.” Sadly we say the same thing to God, he sent Jesus to rescue us and our response is ‘whatever.’ The other phrase that is common is “It’s all good” which is a way of saying that something even though inconvenient, hurtful and annoying is not troubling, it’s not a problem. But sometimes it really isn’t ‘all good.’ Sometimes we experience real tragedy and real crises and a quip phrase like ‘it’s all good.’ doesn’t cut it. Real hope comes from a willingness to hear what God has to say without telling ‘whatever’ or pretending that ‘it’s all good.’ the Rev
